Geisterwelt Nights 2nd Meet Up at Victorian picnick (
Clara Zetkin park )
30 years Anniversary of Wave Gotik Treffen! And of
course we were there to celebrate the biggest dark goth underground festival
that takes place in beautiful Leipzig,Germany.
Already at the beginning of the week the city starts
to change colour. Even the shops in the area are decorating their windows
accordingly.Τhe city is ready for the big event!
From early Thursday the warm up begins with a relaxed
but enthusiastic mood. If you have time you can visit some of the exhibitions
taking place during the festival in appropriately designed spaces and local
museums such as the Grassi. Also during the day, there are interesting
suggestions for guided tours of secret alleys or the city's cemetery.
In the afternoon, the cables are plugged in, dj
controllers are turned on and the music officially welcomes its audience with
the first parties and concerts at the Moritzbastei, the Felsenkeller and other
clubs in the city.
Geisterwelt Nights 2nd Meet Up at Victorian picnick (
Clara Zetkin park )
A great meeting place before the Friday concerts is
the Victorian picnic. Geisterwelt Nights team was there again to meet old and
new friends. Later on, we continued on to Agra (the biggest venue of the
festival) to pick up wristbands and of course to catch the Australian band IKON
on stage, who returned after many years for this special show. At the same time
but on a different stage were the favorites Aeon Sable, Corpus Delicti,
BFG, Skeletal Family, as well as Attrition, Hekate, Buzz Kull, Qntal and
of course many more names in other venues.

After the concerts, the after parties followed as always
with a wide variety of options and for all dark tastes... We chose to
stay at Täubchental for the first When We Were Young party of this year.
Saturday
The guided tours continue this morning and are very
interesting for those who managed to wake up early. A visit to the medieval
village as early as possible in the day, is a good option for more relaxed
moments. And if you have decided to be with your children at the
festival, and they need a break from the concerts, no problem at all, since
there is a specially designed area in the Agra for the little ones.
The options to see and do things are endless today
too. From being at a Steampunk picnic, attending sewing classes for black
romantics, to taking a stroll through the Agra market where you can find
clothes, decorative stuff, books, cds and much more.
The concerts start in the early afternoon in many
venues located in different parts of the city. Some of the bands playing are
Goethes Erben, Left For Pleasure, Bragolin, La Scaltra, Ghosting with a reunion
show for the special 30 years WGT Anniversary, Golden Apes, Ash Code, Covenant,
Frank The Baptist, Faun, The March Violets, Merciful Nuns, Front 242, Absolute
Body Control, Qntal, Ultra Sunn, later a special midnight show with Cold Cave
and of course many,many more..

FAUN at Mittelaltersdorf
Ghosting at Felsenkeller
The shows ended late, but that's never a reason to go
to bed. The after parties had already started and not a pin dropped on the
dancefloors. We opted to walk back to Täubchental for the When We Were Young
party and later to Moritzbastei where DJs from the Cold Transmission music
label were playing until the morning..
Sunday
Third day of the festival and the trick to cope with
long standing is to change your shoes. Your nice platforms can now be
shamelessly replaced by... trainers.
The concerts start a little earlier this day with
Traitrs in the wonderful Volkspalast venue, and later with Je t'aime on stage.
When the list of bands at our favourite festival is so long we are forced to
choose which corner of the city to be in.
Strangers and Lovers
JE T'AIME
TRAITRS
From venues all over the city, today you can hear
sounds from Lebanon Hanover, Die Selektion, Antipole, Grey Gallows, Diary of
Dreams, Solitary Experiments, Leather Strip, Blind Delon, Bootblacks, Estampie,
Iamnoone, Rotting Christ, Deine Lakaien, Cat Rapes Dog, The KVB, De/Vision,
Zanias, Rosa Crux, and of course many more..
Tonight was a very special night for us, as we had the
honour to have our team Geisterwelt Nights on the decks of the historical venue
Moritzbastei which is the only remaining part of the ancient town of Leipzig
(Oberkeller stage) until the early hours of the morning!

Monday, the last day of the festival and the feelings
are mixed... Although, tiredness is not enough to make us give up! Bands
like Frontline Assembly, The Mission, Harsh Symmetry, Ploho, Forever Grey, A
Place to Bury Strangers, Dance My Darling, Untoten, Test Dept, and many more
were playing until late! After the concerts we danced at after parties all
over the city and said goodbye to friends and to another great Wave Gotik
Treffen Festival this year!!!
